Privacy Policy for StayInContacts
Overview
StayInContacts keeps your address book up to date while preserving privacy. Contact data is protected with end-to-end encryption so only you and your connections can access it.
Information We Collect
Authentication. You can sign in using Apple or Google. We use these services only to authenticate your account. We do not request or store your name, email address, or other profile data from these providers unless required for account operation.
Invitations to Non-Users. If you invite someone who is not yet using StayInContacts, we temporarily process their contact information, such as phone number or email, to send the invitation.
- This is the only scenario where contact data is not end-to-end encrypted.
- This processing is necessary because the recipient is not yet in the system and cannot be matched via hashed data.
- Once the invitation is delivered, or when the recipient joins, the unencrypted data is deleted.
How We Use Information
- Authenticating your account.
- Matching contacts and enabling connections.
- Updating contact information across your address book.
- Sending notifications related to invites and updates.
Because contact data is end-to-end encrypted, we cannot view or access your contacts' personal details during normal operation.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
End-to-End Encryption
- Contact details such as phone numbers, addresses, and emails are encrypted and not accessible to us.
- We store and match user records using hashed identifiers, such as hashed phone numbers or emails.
- We cannot read, access, or disclose your contact data.
Because we do not have access to decrypted data, we are not able to provide contact information to third parties, including in response to legal requests or subpoenas.
Advertising
- Ads are based on information Google already has about you.
- StayInContacts does not provide your personal data or contact information to advertisers, including Google.
Data Sharing
We do not share your personal information with third parties, except to the extent necessary to provide authentication through Apple or Google sign-in, or when required by applicable law, noting that encrypted data is not accessible to us.
Data Retention
- Encrypted contact data remains inaccessible to us and persists only as needed to provide the service.
- Invitation data for non-users is temporary and deleted after delivery or account creation.
- Authentication-related data is retained as long as your account is active.
Your Choices
- Revoke contact access via your device settings.
- Disable notifications in your device settings.
- Stop using the service or delete your account at any time.
Security
We use strong encryption and security practices to protect your data. No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Children's Privacy
StayInContacts is not intended for use by children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Updates will be posted here with a revised effective date.
